Balti Butter Chicken

One of the most popular chicken dish. The combination of butter, almond and yogurt makes the curry texture smooth and creamy.

Ingredient

  • Chicken: 600gm
  • Onion: 1 medium
  • Tomato puree: 2 tablespoon
  • Yogurt: 3 tablespoon
  • Cumin seeds: ½ teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder: ½ teaspoon
  • Chili powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Oil: 1 tablespoon
  • Butter: 2 tablespoon
  • salt to taste
To make a paste
  • Soaked almond: 10-12 pieces
  • Garlic cloves: 3 big
  • Ginger: 1” long
  • Cinnamon: 1“ long
  • Cloves: 3
  • Black pepper: 3
  • Green chili: 1

Preparation

  1. Make a fine paste of the above mentioned ingredients.
  2. Cut and clean the chicken pieces. Add the paste, yogurt, turmeric powder, chili powder and salt to it.
  3. Mix well and let it marinate for about 30 minutes.
  4. Heat a pan. Add the oil and butter to it.
  5. Add the cumin seeds. When they start sputtering  add chopped onions. Fry till light brown in color.
  6. Then follow with tomato puree. Cook till oil separates..
  7. Add the marinated chicken and cook on high flame for 3-4 minutes, stirring in between.
  8. Reduce heat to medium low and cook covered till the chicken pieces are cooked. It will take about 12-15 minutes.
  9. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
