This is an authentic Odia dish. Great as a side dish.
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Ingredient
- Potato: 1 Medium
- Drumstick: 1 number
- Turmeric powder: ¼ teaspoon
- Mustard seed: ¼ teaspoon
- Oil: 1 tablespoon
- Salt to taste
To make a paste
- Mustard seed: 1 ½ teaspoon
- Cumin seed: ½ teaspoon
- Garlic cloves: 2
- Green chili: 1
Preparation
- Take the mustard and cumin seed in a mixer jar and grind it for a few seconds. Add little water to it and let it soak for about 15 minutes.
- Then grind it again with garlic and green chili to a fine paste.
- Cut the potato in circular shape. Should not be too thin. Lightly scrape the drumstick and cut into small finger length pieces.
- Heat the oil in a pan. When hot add the mustard seeds.
- After the mustard seeds crackle add potato and drumstick.
- Sprinkle the turmeric and salt and mix well on high heat for about 1 minute.
- Lower the heat and cook covered till half done. Will take about 4-5 minutes.
- Then add the mustard paste to it and cook covered for another 4-5 minutes.
