Chuin Aloo Besara Bhaja

This is an authentic Odia dish. Great as a side dish.

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Ingredient

  • Potato: 1 Medium
  • Drumstick: 1 number
  • Turmeric powder: ¼ teaspoon
  • Mustard seed: ¼ teaspoon
  • Oil: 1 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste

To make a paste

  • Mustard seed: 1 ½ teaspoon
  • Cumin seed: ½ teaspoon
  • Garlic cloves: 2
  • Green chili: 1

Preparation

  • Take the mustard and cumin seed in a mixer jar and grind it for a few seconds. Add little water to it and let it soak for about 15 minutes.
  • Then grind it again with garlic and green chili to a fine paste.
  • Cut the potato in circular shape. Should not be too thin. Lightly scrape the drumstick and cut into small finger length pieces.
  • Heat the oil in a pan. When hot add the mustard seeds.
  • After the mustard seeds crackle add potato and drumstick.
  • Sprinkle the turmeric and salt and mix well on high heat for about 1 minute.
  • Lower the heat and cook covered till half done. Will take about 4-5 minutes.
  • Then add the mustard paste to it and cook covered for another 4-5 minutes.
