
Bargarh: Local police achieved a major success in their anti-Maoist operations when they arrested top Maoist Dhiren Mahato alias Girish along with one of his trusted comrades on Tuesday.
Police source said the district cops foiled the plan of Girish to blow up three police stations including Bargarh and Atabira. Against Girish as many as twenty-seven cases including murder, arson and extortion were pending in Sambalpur and Bargarh districts.
Girish was in charge of party organisation in Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh and Sundergarh districts and ranked next to Sabyasachi Panda in the CPI (Maoist) organisation.
He was arrested by the Bargarh police along with his aide Shankar from Can Road locality and one revolver, live bullets, maps of Bargarh police station & the district magazine centre and Rs 2,900 in cash seized from Girish.
