Bhubaneswar: Odisha Legislative Assembly's annual Budget Session is likely to begin from February 21 and continue till April 7.
The proposal submitted by the Assembly Secretariat is being examined by the Parliamentary Affairs Department and a decision on the summoning of the House would be taken in the first week of February and the notification in this regard would be issued only after the approval of the Governor,sources said.
As per the proposal, the annual Budget for the financial year 2012-13 is scheduled to be presented by the Finance Minister on February 24. The House would stand adjourned for a fortnight after presentation of the annual budgetary statement to allow the Departmentally Related Standing Committees to present their reports on scrutiny of their respective demands for grants to the House to facilitate discussions.
According to sources,although the Finance Department has already initiated the preparation of the Budget and held consultations with various stakeholders, the Government,keeping in mind finalization of the State Annual Plan pending with the Planning Commission, is considering a vote-on-account for the first four months of the 2012-13 financial year.
